inspiring qoutes

"Photography is an art, not a set of methods. You can follow all these steps and still take an uninteresting photograph that you dislike. Technically "incorrect" photos can be the most stunning, such as those which are hugely over-exposed, harshly lit, packed with "distracting" background detail, strangely composed, and so on. Know the rules, but know that you can, and should, break them whenever you see fit."

"Photography is not about having the most expensive camera. It's about being at the right place at the right time. Expensive cameras offer more flexibility and clarity to the photographs they take. It does not make them a better photographer or an average camera owner a poor photographer."

this is so inspiring ..*wink

sunset at freo

wazaaa.
on my recent trip i managed to make a visit to freo
thanks to Mr.Johnson and Mr.Edison Ching
this trip was possible
here's a view of the sunset taken by the port that evening
something about 8pm

to those who have visited Perth before
then they'd know what i mean
for those who havent here's a brief write out about it :

Fremantle was established in 1829 as a port for the fledgling Swan River Colony and was the major city in Western Australia for much of its early history.

It was the first port of call in Australia for many migrants and visitors and today Fremantle sustains a rich mixture of cultures and nationalities.

Fremantle is Western Australia's major commercial port and handles the majority of the State's imports and exports.

The distinctive nature of a port city and the availability of warehouses made vacant by the modernisation of the port attracted artists and arts organisations seeking low cost accommodation.

Within easy walking and cycling distance, visitors can experience contemporary circus, fine crafts, original music and theatre, exciting galleries, museums, bookshops and buskers. Along with maritime history and extensive architectural conservation, the Arts have become a central part of Fremantle life where visitors can discover the past and present.

Fremantle provides a unique opportunity for the visitor to experience and enjoy a range of cultural activities in a relaxed atmosphere. A browse through the markets or leisurely stop at one of the numerous cafes and restaurants will complement your exploration of the arts, making a visit to Fremantle a rich and rewarding experience.

there u have it..

greetings from Perth

nevertheless.. this would be my version of it
i have always had a certain soft spot for Perth
i guess if ever i decide to live in another country

and the pics here were all shot using a Canon 5D with L lense 17-40mm
courtesy of Aliaskhal
superb camera i must say...
price also superb wan!!

here's a little bio about her taken of her blog
djchelseaj.blogspot.com

Chelsea J. began her career in media, communications and entertainment in 2000 as a disc jockey with the local Hip-Hop/R&B radio station in Vancouver, Canada; her many roles included radio host, producer, music and content programmer and local personality within her community.

The natural progression to DJ came easy. Since very young, Chelsea's range of music knowledge is what made her unique amongst her peers. After her time on radio, where hip-hop, R&B and soul music was her mainstay, she was offered a job promoting for Vancouver’s first and only 2-Step/U.K Garage night. That experience introduced her to the world of house and electronic music. Inspired by DJ’s and producers from both genres, she was encouraged by friends to invest in her first set of turntables.

Her first experience “playing out” consisted of special events; graduations, office and seasonal parties; her versatility and ability to read and connect with any crowd is what separates her from other dj’s, male or female. A background in performance art also gave her an edge, always the character, Chelsea will always dress to the occasion, whether it’s a red-tie event or a theme-party, head’s always turn for this energetic, fun-loving, sassy “lady DJ.”

After only a short time, Chelsea was playing in the local nightclub circuit. She was offered a position at the Rhythm Institute, a school and dj agency started by another fellow female jock and entrepreneur, DJ Leanne. That opportunity was a turning point in her career, as she was specifically chosen and requested for many high-profile events such as the Bo Dog Elite Fighting Championship After-Party, Whistler Wine Festival, and sponsored events through Audi, Oakley, Heineken, and Smirnoff.

In 2008, she was offered the incredible opportunity to travel to Asia and perform as the resident DJ and host for the Arena Singapore, a live international entertainment venue located in the world class Clarke Quay. During that time, Chelsea hosted many special events, DJ’ayed to crowds of 600+, worked alongside many different dj’s and performers, and appeared in the pages of Maxim Singapore, and most recently, worked alongside a very famous British singer as as a background vocalist at the MTV Asia Awards held in Genting this year....!

Currently, Chelsea now resides in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia where she is busy collaborating with other international and local artists, dj’s, and promoters on various projects; whether it is as a dj, singer, host, or soon to be producer on the horizon, Chelsea J. has found herself inspired by the melting pot of culture, music, and energy in the Far East.

And by observing the response of club-goers and industry folk alike, her fresh sound, style, energy and creativity is fast becoming a welcomed addition to the local music and nightclub scene in KL and beyond!

SO check out her next gig yo! dis girl rawks..

silhouette

wazaaaaaa
its time to get back to summore photographs
less talk,more pictures!
here we have a "silhouette"
(i seriously dontch kno how to spell that word)
of a very masculine girl..
ok ok
eryse is gonna be mad at me for putting this up
for those of u who dont really get the meaning of a silhouette
here's what it is

A silhouette is a view of a object or scene consisting of the outline and a featureless interior, with the silhouetted object usually being black. The term was initially applied in the 18th century to portraits or other pictorial representations cut from thin black card.

The term has been extended to describe the sight or image of a person, object or scene that is backlit, and appears dark against a lighter background. Because a silhouette emphasises the outline, the word has also been used in the fields of fashion and fitness to describe the shape of a person's body or the shape created by wearing clothing of a particular style or period.

and so..
we shot this at my garden using only one 600w studio strobe on a softbox
enough to fit this framing n blasted it at i think 3/4 strength of power
exif data:
shot at F22 with
shutter speed something like 1/100
and at ISO200
camera was set to portrait setting
and a little PP on the final cut.

i was eager to try something new
this was already towards the end of the shoot when i went like,
eryse...!go stand at that lightbox..
now stay...

if u still cant figure out how this looked like
maybe this can help u imagine better..

so there u have it this was my version of a silhouette

oh wait
i have another one of Esti
naa..that'll be my next post..
