back at maldives..

wazaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
greetings from beautiful Maldives!

Maldives is made up of a chain of 1192 small coral islands that are grouped into clusters of atolls. It has a total area of 298 sq km and a population of about 330,000. The capital and largest city is Male, with a population of about 80,000. Arguably the lowest-lying country in the world, the average elevation is 1 m above sea level. The Maldives, officially the Republic of Maldives, is an island nation consisting of agroup of atolls stretching south of India's Lakshadweep islands between the Minicoy and the Chargos archipelagoes, and about seven hundred kilometres south-west of Sri Lanka in the Laccadive Sea of Indian Ocean. The twenty-six atolls of Maldives encompass a territory featuring 1,192 islets, two hundred and fifty islands of which are inhabited.

jonker outing

wazaaaa.
welcome to Jonker Street, the pic u see above is a pub actually.its called the Geographer.nice place i must say.has that distinctive heritage feel when looking at it.
The Jonker Street is not only known for its cultural attractions and unique building architectures, but delicious foods and local delicacies as well. Being day or night, Jonker Street or Jonker Walk, the street is full of a number of shops and cafes selling a wide variety of foods and beverages. The Geographer Cafe located at the middle of the street is especially known among the foreign visitors, for its happening live bands on Friday and weekend nights.

These activities include dancing classes, Chinese classical instrumental shows, and karaoke sessions. In order to encourage touristy activities being held at Jonker Street, a permanent stage is also built at the end of the street for performances.

cendol melaka yang sedap dan manis.

Cendol [pronounced 'chen-doll'] or es cendol is a traditional dessert originating from Java, Indonesia, but is also popular in Malaysia, Singapore, and Southern Thailand . The dessert's basic ingredients consist of shaved ice, coconut milk, starch noodles with green food coloring (usually sourced from the pandan leaf), and palm sugar. Red beans, glutinous rice, grass jelly, and creamed corn are optional additions. Cendol has become a quintessential part of cuisine among the multi-racial population in Southeast Asia and is often sold by vendors at roadsides, hawker centres and food courts.

Cendol vendors are also a common sight in Indonesian cities. In the Javanese language, cendol refers to the jelly-like part of the beverage, while the combination of cendol, palm sugar and coconut milk is called dawet. In Malaysia, cendol is usually sold on the roadside by Indian Muslim vendors. It is common dessert fare in Singapore popularly found in dessert stalls, food centres, coffee shops and food courts, and served by vendors of various ethnic backgrounds. The first Indian-Muslim vendors learnt the skills of making cendol from the Javanese in Indonesia and brought the recipe and preparation methods with them to Malaysia and Singapore. Cendol is also popular as a snack, particularly after Friday prayers among Muslims.

The relative affluence of Singapore, as well as Western influence, has given rise to different variations of cendol. One can occasionally come across variants such as cendol with vanilla ice-cream or cendol topped with durian.

Source from wikipedia cause i donno how to explain about cendol..hehe

arina got her ears pierced!!

the weapon of choice:

unfortunately for her little cousin,Nadia( who was supposed to get her ears pierced too)..cried
and so struggled so hard n rebelliously not wanting to go thru it.. Auntie La was a lil disapointed.perhaps when she's a bit older n ready...

of course it wasnt that easy
for arina either.she cried too..

pavlova

wazaaaa...
meet my latest obsession : The Pavlova
Pavlova is a meringue dessert named after the Russian ballet dancer, Ánna Pávlova
The dessert is believed to have been created to honour the dancer during or after one of her tours to Australia and New Zealand. The exact location of its first creation and the nationality of its creator has been a source of argument between the two countries for many years, however more serious research into the matter indicates New Zealand as source of today's pavlova.

The dessert is crispy on the outside but light and fluffy inside.how sedap is that?

here we have Aida handing me my second serving of her delicious Pavlova.dengan tak segan silu i wallop the entire dessert enjoying every little tingly taste it had to savour.i especially loved the crisp crunchy shell n the strawberries was superb.

Pavlova is made by beating egg whites (and sometimes salt) to a very stiff consistency before folding in caster sugar, white vinegar, cornstarch plus vanilla sometimes, and slow-baking the mixture to create the meringue. This makes the outside of the pavlova a crisp crunchy shell, while the interior remains soft and moist. The pavlova's internal consistency is thus completely different from that normally associated with meringue, having more of a soft marshmallow texture.

Pavlova is traditionally decorated with topping of whipped cream and fresh fruit of sweet/tart flavours, such as strawberries and kiwifruit, or passionfruit and banana or berries and peach slices. Here we had more sugar topping on top of it!But the passionfruit was so yummy...

and this was whats left on my plate...if its not because of plain manners i would have licked that bit of my plate too...hahahaha
later...
